Carlisle Police have confirmed that there will be a crackdown on careless and inconsiderate driving.

Following a number of offences on King Street in Wigton, the police have suggested on Facebook that they will beginning to monitor the area more closely.

They wrote: "If you park opposite or too close to a junction, you can be prosecuted for careless and inconsiderate driving. Over the last few months your Neighbourhood Police have been warning most people, but going forward, we will be monitoring the parking more closely, including using the cameras on King Street, to offer penalty notices with points on your license or send people to Court.

"Whilst the Police do not enforce double yellows, we will be sharing our findings with the Council and can prosecute other parking offences where danger or obstructions occur."
