STUDENTS at Lakes College have had their artwork put on display at The Gather.

Creative students at Lakes College have had artwork created as part of their final project put on display at the Ennerdale community venue.

Over the past months, groups from the college visited Ennerdale Valley to learn about the abundance of nature and wildlife in the area, and Ennerdale's rich heritage.

It was hoped that this would inspire the young people to create a piece of artwork for their final project.

The artwork has then been put on display this week at The Gather, gaining a lot of interest from visitors to the centre.

Emma Shepherd, manager at The Gather, said: "The students started coming to Ennerdale in April and May to do research work on the local area.

"While they were back at college, they completed their artwork or digital pieces, whichever they were doing. And then this week they've put an exhibition together which is on display until the middle of July, showing all their coursework and final pieces.

"I think it was an excellent opportunity for them to get out in the local area and discover what they have going on right on their doorstep.

"We've had a lot of people come along to see the art, the opening event was well attended, and all of the young people came with their parents. Since then, we've had people coming in to have a look and see what there is."
