Remembering jokes: when we showed our sense of humour

This special day serves as a reminder of the profound significance of humour and laughter in our lives. It underscores the power of laughter as a tool to combat the daily stresses that burden us, promoting both physical and mental wellbeing.
On International Joke Day, people are encouraged to unleash their creativity and wit, sharing jokes that bring joy to others on social media platforms, at gatherings and in workplaces.
Cumbrians have certainly never been shy in sharing a joke and our first picture shows Ellen Cullen and Robert John having a laugh at a combined churches’ barbecue in St Nicholas’ Church gardens.

It seems King Charles likes a joke, as demonstrated by our pictures of him visiting Cumbria while still a prince.

A joke between Jono Terry and his girlfriend Natalie Tickle of Yanwath led to Jono taking part in Dry January and High Sheriff Sam Rayner split his sides over coffee at Ewanrigg Community Centre, in Maryport.
