A MCDONALD'S restaurant was closed for a day following the death of an employee, the fast food chain has confirmed.

Whitehaven McDonald’s was shut on Friday due to the death of a member of staff. The restaurant is currently trading on reduced hours and with a Drive-Thru only service.

McDonald’s said support is being offered to the restaurant team in Whitehaven.

A McDonald's spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the restaurant closed on Friday due to the passing of an employee. The restaurant is now open, however, we are currently trading Drive-Thru only and with reduced hours.

"Our thoughts are with their family and friends, and we are offering support to our restaurant team at this difficult time.”
