A MAN in his 70s died in a car crash in the early hours of this morning, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the A595 at Bothel following the serious collision, which occurred shortly before 12.25am.
The collision involved two cars - a black Toyota RAV and a blue Honda Civic.
The driver of the Honda Civic – a man in his 70s from the Wigton area – was declared deceased at the scene, police said.
A man in his 30s suspected of being the driver of the Toyota RAV was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.
The road was closed for eight hours between Bothel and the Blennerhasset turn-off while an accident investigation team worked at the scene.
