Local police have undertaken speed checks at a speeding hotspot in West Cumbria

Officers from Allerdale police went to Allonby on Monday, July 1 after locals had reported a number of incidents of speeding in the town.

As part of the police crackdown, four drivers were spoken to with one driver doing 44 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone.

A spokesperson for Allerdale Police said: “Officers yesterday conducted speed checks at Allonby, Four drivers were spoken to, one driver was doing 44 mph in a 30 zone.

“Local residents have reported concerns about vehicles speeding through the village.”
