Cancer Research UK is asking Carlisle runners to submit their favourite songs for Race for Life 2024's official playlist.

The call comes as new research reveals that over half (55 per cent) of those who listen to music create their own workout playlist.

92 per cent of people in the North West who listen to music when exercising find that it gives them added motivation.

Race For Life 10k, 5k, 3k and Pretty Muddy 5k events are taking place at Bitts Park this Sunday, July 7.

The Plays for Life playlist has already seen tracks added by celebrities including Charlotte Crosby and Demi Jones.

Gareth Mulcahy, head of events and sports for Cancer Research UK, said: "It's remarkable to witness the nation continue to come together to support Race for Life.

"With each step taken, we edge closer to making a monumental difference, funding groundbreaking research and positively impacting many lives.

"We’re asking the nation to get involved in Race for Life again this year.

"Sign up to your local event, add a track to our playlist, and know that every beat will help us beat cancer.”
