A DRUG driver who was more than twice the cannabis limit was caught after being stopped for having a defective brake light.
Ellie Dixon, 23, was driving a Seat Ibiza on Main Street in Egremont on February 16 when she was pulled over by police, Workington Magistrates' Court heard.
Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said Dixon was asked to complete a drugs wipe and this was positive for cannabis.
The defendant was arrested and taken to the police station. A blood sample was taken which showed Dixon had 4.4mcg of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The specified limit is 2mcg.
John Cooper, defending, said there was nothing about the manner of Dixon’s driving. She was planning to study at university soon and a driving ban would have an impact on her, the court was told.
Dixon, of Croft Terrace, Egremont, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
Magistrates imposed a 12-month driving ban and fined Dixon £323. She must also pay £85 costs and a £129 victim surcharge.
