CARLISLE's motorists will have three road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of less than ten minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M6, from 8pm January 13 to 6am July 9, slight delays (under ten minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 43 to 44, Lane three closures with narrow lane two to replace VRS.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A69, from 7pm July 1 to 6am July 3, slight delays (under ten minutes): A69 eastbound, Greenholme to Low Moor, near Hayton - traffic signals to carry out SU works.

• M6, from 8pm July 14 to 7pm July 20, slight delays (under ten minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 41 to 43, Lane three closures for multiple cyclic activities in centre reserve and asset inspections.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
