THE Beacon will be hosting walks with Alpacas over the summer months.

Members of the public can book to meet with the animals on the harbour.

In a post on social media, The Beacon wrote: "Did you spot the alpacas on Whitehaven harbour the other week?

"Alpacas traditionally live high up in the mountains of Peru, but on August 11 you can join these soft and gentle creatures as they take a walk in the Cumbrian sea air.

"The walk will be a return trip from the Beacon Museum car park to the fish sculpture and back. Suitable for children over the age of 6. Children must be accompanied by an adult."
