WHILST most families choose to walk up and down the stairs, a family in Frizington will be climbing.

Michael Mason has transformed his home into an adventure course to support his son Leo’s love for rock climbing.

Leo is not just a 10-year-old with aspirations of becoming a professional climber; he's been using his platform to promote the benefits of exercise for individuals dealing with Tourette's syndrome for the past year.

Most recently, under the banner of Tickinemoff, Michael and Leo have completed all 214 Wainwrights.

“I was always a joiner most of my life," Michael said.

"If the kids are into something, we’ll support it. If they’ve ever gotten into martial arts, we’ve turned the living room into a gym with mats and bags hanging off the ceiling, we’ve always tried to facilitate them.

"With this one, I’ve built a false ceiling so it can all come down quite easily.

"It’s brilliant, we don’t use it every day but it’s there to use when we don’t get to the climbing centre or get outdoors," he said.

Their home adventure course has been attracting quite the attention online with a video of Leo in action reaching over 400,000 views.

"I've climbed on it myself, we've tried to make this one pretty hard," Michael said.

“A lot of people like it, it’s getting a lot of traction online.

“There’s a lot of people saying they want one now. It’s had more than a quarter of a million views overnight.

"The good thing is his Facebook page Tickinemoff has grown in support because of it," he said.

Now the father-son duo have completed the Wainwrights challenge, they have set out to do it all over again, only this time in a six-month period.

"We're just over 4 weeks in and we've completed 79 so far.

"We’re going to try to smash that target. If the weather was playing ball we’d have a lot more done," Michael said.
