Cumbrians – and some of their furry friends – have been turning out in their masses to vote in the general election.
Voters headed to the polls on Thursday, June 4 in the first election since the pandemic to elect local MPs.
This is the first election since boundary changes transformed the Cumbrian political landscape and the county went from having six MPs to just five.
Labour has long targeted seats in Cumbria, which is a former stronghold for the party, but support has dwindled since 2010 in Carlisle and the coastal areas.

As voters headed to the polling booth, some took their dogs with them with #dogsatpollingstations trending on X throughout the day.
Riley, Willow and Merlin joined their owner, Daniel at Camerton in West Cumbria, Tilly joined her owner at Bransty and the Green Party candidate for Carlisle, Gavin Hawkton, was pictured taking his terrier with him as he voted on Thursday morning.
