THE Whitehaven Coastguard team took part in a training exercise this week.
The team was training on the rock armour near Whitehaven Harbour to prepare for this type of scenario.
In a post on social media, Whitehaven Coastguard wrote: "If a person or pet became trapped in a coastal structure, such as rock armour, would you know to and ask for the Coastguard?
"The Coastguards' capabilities and responsibilities cover Lost and Missing Persons, Water Rescue and Rope Rescue to name a few.
"As part of our Rope Rescue skillset, we are trained and equipped to conduct Vertical Rescue in restricted space, such as coastal structures, onboard vessels and coastal defences as can be seen here on rock armour.
"At last night's training, we undertook an exercise on rock armour at Whitehaven North Shore, conducting scenarios for vertical rescue. Background activity covered the various mechanical and manual recovery methods we use in rope rescue."
