CUMBRIA Police are urging people to stay safe when out watching football this weekend.
Today, July 6, England plays Switzerland in the Euro 2024 tournament.
The police recognise that watching football brings people together, but that emotions can run high.
Members of the public are urged to walk away if things seem to be getting out of hand.
In a post on social media, Cumbria Police wrote: "Enjoy the match no matter what the result.
"Things can get heated and that can lead to situations that are unsafe for you and your mates.
"Make sure that time out with your mates is remembered for the right reasons. Walk away."
