WORK is continuing at the community diagnostic centre in Workington

When the building is complete the centre will offer MRI and other forms of scanning for patients in the area.

The centre is set to open early next year and will provide health workers with faster capabilities for diagnosing serious illnesses.

In a post on social media, North Cumbria Integrated Care, NCIC wrote: "The Community Diagnostic Centre is flying up in Workington town centre.

"Once complete the centre will offer an MRI, CT and ultrasound scanning for patients across north Cumbria.

"This will be in addition to services already in place at the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.

"Faster diagnostics is key to diagnosing a range of conditions, including cancer, as early as possible.

"The centre will increase our capacity for diagnostic service and reduce our waiting times.

"It also means that patients who require more than one type of scan will be able to get them in one visit.

"We can’t wait to see it opening in Spring 2025."
