The owners of a popular bed and breakfast in Brampton are celebrating 10 years since they officially opened.

Colin and Dianne Noble purchased the building in 2013 and officially opened The Scotch Arms Mews on July 6 2014.

The Cumbrian-born couple met at William Howard secondary school and now host other families in their holiday home just round the corner from where they first met.

Ten years on, and the Bed and Breakfast is ranked in the top 10 per cent worldwide thanks to TripAdvisor.

Speaking to the News & Star, they said: "We looked at the building for over a year as it stood empty and falling into disrepair and just thought we could do something with it.

"We purchased it in 2013 and spent a year renovating and uncovering fantastic features such as the well in the guests lounge and the salt/bread oven. We opened in July 2014 as a brand new Bed & Breakfast in Brampton and began welcoming guests into the seven newly-created ensuite rooms."

Walkers and tourists are some of their regular customers, and the two love meeting all the different types of people who come and stay with them.

They added: "The best part of being in this business is meeting all the wonderful guests who come through our doors each evening.  Many who are hiking the wall, or cycling the coast to coast.  It really is a family ran business and guests feel that as soon as the walk through the door to the warmest of welcomes."

To celebrate their 10th birthday, the Scotch Arms Mews is offering 10% off on a self catering stay from dates in October 2024 to March 2025, if booked within the next 10 days.

They concluded: "We’ve had our ups and downs along the way, but backed by the best families, friends and staff we’ve been able to welcome some of the loveliest people from all over the world, through our doors.

"We have a great sense of pride that we are still here and still welcoming tourists to this wonderful historic market town of Brampton."
