THE public has shared ideas for what they want to see happening on the harbour in Whitehaven

The Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners reached out to the public to ask what types of activities and events they'd like to see on the harbourside.

Many people responded to give their ideas on how the area could be improved for the public.

Many people said they would like to see tall ship visits and live music, which have proved to be popular over the years.

In a post on social media, The Harbour Commissioners wrote: "The results are in. We asked what kinds of events you'd like to see on the harbour and our top 5 responses were: a local producers or farmers' market, tall ship visits, boat trips (the Isle of Man was particularly popular), more live music ( with lots of different genres), and outdoor cinema screenings.

"There were lots of other great ideas like a pirate festival, comedians performing under The Hub, pop-up restaurants, light and art installations, Wim Hoff classes and loads more."

The continental markets return to the harbour this weekend. The harbour sessions and car boot sales are also continuing.

The next major event will be Pride on the Harbourside on Saturday, August 3.
