FOR this Nostalgia edition we wanted to take you back almost 50 years to July 1975.

These pictures show you what was happening here in Cumbria, 49 years ago in the summer of '75.

Whilst some of you may remember this time fondly, for others it will be an era that we have only heard stories about.

This was a time when actor Charlie Chaplin was knighted by the Queen; Davros first appeared on the BBC hit TV show Dr Who; Monty Python and the Holy Grail was released in the UK; Led Zeppelin returned to the UK to play five sold-out shows at Earls Court in London; snow showers occur across as the country even as far south as London which last happened in 1761; the first episode of the popular sitcom Fawlty Towers is broadcast on BBC Two; Dr. No was broadcast on ITV which was the first time a Bond film is shown on British television; and Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was released.

It was also a time when the heavy metal band Iron Maiden was formed by Steve Harris in London; The Wizard of Oz was shown on British television for the first time, on BBC One; the National Railway Museum is opened in York, becoming the first national museum outside London; and British Leyland Motor Corporation comes under British government control.

These photos show what was happening at this time in Cumbria. We hope that they help to bring back some very fond memories for some of you.
