A CARLISLE man who is accused of using a knife to threaten a motorist as he sat waiting at traffic lights has been remanded in custody.
Wilson O’Neil, 46, of Rydal Street, declined to enter a plea to the allegation and a second charge that he illegally had a knife at St Nicholas Bridge and London Road. Prosecutors say this happened on July 8.
The defendant was represented in court by defence lawyer Anthony Wilson, who indicated that O'Neil would deny the allegations.
Magistrates sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for “trial by jury,” and O’Neil will appear there for a preliminary hearing on August 9.
