Cumbrian goalkeeper Dean Henderson was in the thick of the celebrations as England booked their place in the Euro 2024 final.

Substitute Henderson joined his team-mates in racing to congratulate Ollie Watkins' after his dramatic winner against the Netherlands.

Whitehaven star Henderson leapt from the bench and charged onto the pitch to join in the celebrations after Aston Villa frontman Watkins' 90th-minute goal.

The 27-year-old and his team-mates relished the scenes as England claimed a 2-1 victory in Dortmund to reach Sunday's final against Spain.

Watkins' goal completed England's fightback after Harry Kane's penalty had earlier cancelled out Xavi Simons' early opener.

Henderson is one of two keepers understudying Three Lions No1 Jordan Pickford at the tournament in Germany.

The west Cumbrian, along with Aaron Ramsdale, will now play his part in preparations for Sunday's final in the Olympiastadion Berlin.

Henderson, posting on social media after Wednesday's semi-final, said the scenes were "UNBELIEVABLE!"

The former Carlisle United academy keeper has earlier spoken about his role in Gareth Southgate's England squad during the tournament in Germany.

"With the training we do, the sessions Marge [coach Martyn Margetson] is putting on, I would be surprised if another country's goalkeepers are working to that level, day in, day out," said Henderson, speaking on the Lions' Den.

"It's 700 saves a week, to try and prepare for every outcome.

"That's why [Pickford] has been so good and has performed as well as he has for England for years."

Pickford, who was on loan at Carlisle from Everton in the 2013/14 season, now has the chance to be part of English football history, as the men's team seek a major tournament victory for the first time since 1966.

The Three Lions No1 made 18 appearances for Carlisle under Graham Kavanagh in 2014 as United were relegated from League One.
