A city care home is being used by the NHS to provide temporary beds for patients who have been discharged from the hospital but need further care.

The NHS has a contract with Kingston Court care home in Carlisle to commission the use of interim beds for Cumberland Infirmary patients.

It is part of a longstanding arrangement between the two that is part of a system-wide response to the high numbers of patients who are fit to be discharged from hospital but are awaiting ongoing care.

Kingston Court is located close to the Cumberland Infirmary on Newtown Road. It provides care for 80 residents, it also emphasises its strong community links and care that is tailored to the individual.
