Firefighters and mountain rescuers were sent out after a dog fell over 20 metres and became stuck on a ledge.
On July 10 at around 3pm, Keswick and Penrith firefighters were called out alongside members of the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team to Surprise View in Borrowdale.
The dog’s owner had attempted to rescue it but also got stuck before firefighters and mountain rescuers were able to safely rescue them.
A spokesperson from Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said the dog decided to chase a ball over a cliff edge but fell.
Once the person got stuck too, the other owner made an emergency call.
A joint rescue operation saw a rope system put in place to lower the rescuer and pull the person back to the top.
A second rescuer was then lowered to retrieve the dog.
Thankfully, both the dog and its owner were uninjured but rescuers recommended the dog be checked over by a vet.
Crews were in attendance for two hours and 14 minutes.
