Residents are invited to partake in an engagement event where walking, cycling and accessibility plans will be discussed.

The event focuses on the Cleator Moor Town Deal, and takes place at the Cleator Moor Civic Hall and Masonic Centre on July 30 between 3pm and 6.30pm.

Plans for the Connected Town initiative will be exhibited, and officers from Cumberland Council will be available to answer questions.

Attendees can also participate in a consultation to express their views.

Connected Town promotes increased walking and cycling in and around Cleator Moor, improving accessibility and enhancing gateways into the town.

The scheme aims to better connect Cleator Moor to employment, education and healthcare services beyond town limits while also improving the town's image as a vibrant and innovative place to live, work and visit.

Seven locations have been identified for possible investment in new or improved paths for walkers and cyclists.

There are also proposed improvements to three road junctions, as well as plans to enhance gateways into Cleator Moor.

More than 3.5km of walking and cycling paths are slated for improvement as part of the project.

Chair of the Cleator Moor Town Deal Board, Bob Metcalfe, said: "Our engagement event is an opportunity to find out more about the Connected Town project and to have your say on the proposals."

Connected Town is one of four initiatives that make up the Cleator Moor Town Deal, which secured an award of £22.5m from the government's Towns Fund along with additional funding of £18.4m from match funders.
