A COMMUNITY group will be hosting a medieval event at a historic site.
Friends of Egremont Castle are hosting a medieval day which will be presented by Red Wyvern.
The company brings an enactment of medieval skills, such as demonstrating fights, baking bread, and candle stick making. There will also be a 'knight school' for children to join in.
This will take place on Saturday, August 17 with tickets available on July 20.
Yvonne Farrer, of Friends of Egremont Castle, said: "We are very excited about this kind of event, being the first time we have held anything like this in the Castle grounds.
"We will be having a guess the weight of the sword stall and a tombola table to raise some funds, although attendance to the event is free, however, due to health and safety this will be a ticket-only event so we can control numbers regarding the safety aspect of the event."
Red Wyverns demonstrate life in a medieval camp during the time of the Wars of the Roses around the second half of the 15th century.
In addition to fighting demonstrations and a fully stocked armoury, they have a variety of other 'living history' type displays.
There will also be a field kitchen, coin-making, candle-making, music, and textile dying.
At the knight school members of the public, especially children, can mingle with the re-
enactors, see and handle reproductions of medieval equipment in the armoury and
participate in some of the demonstrations, learning the basic fighting skills of the period.
