A city society has had a busy schedule celebrating the life and career of one of Cumbria’s greatest sons.
The Carlisle Tent of the Sons of the Desert is the official Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society.
Comedy legend Stan Laurel was born in Ulverston in 1890 and formed a partnership with American, Oliver Hardy which has gone down in history as one of the great comedy double acts.
The Carlisle branch of the club first met for a big screen film showing at the Forum in Hexham before a cultural exchange with the Paisley Tent in Glasgow, with ended with a visit to the Panoptican, where Stan Laurel first appeared on stage.
