Gilded Gold Design House has been named News & Star 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024'.

The salon, on Carlisle's Wigton Road, has been named the best hairdresser or barber in the region by News & Star readers.

Ten local hairdressers and barbers were chosen by readers as finalists in the competition and were fiercely supported by fanatics across the two-week voting period.

However, after counting all the votes Gilded Gold Design House has emerged victorious. 

Mark Noble owns Gilded Gold and was elated after learning that his salon, which first opened in 2021 had been chosen by News & Star readers as the 'Best Hairdresser/Barber 2024'.

He said: "I am over the moon, I am just gobsmacked really. 

"We are three years old and to be nominated as the best salon in the region is astonishing.

"I have also got an amazing team. I don't ask much of them but they do so much for me and there is that mutual respect there between us all.

"I am very lucky with my staff that they want to come in and be part of it and it is like a big family."

Mark also discussed his belief that it is his salon's wide range of services and offerings that has put it on the top of the local pile.

He said: "Some of the comments we have received during this whole process have been so good and I am just lost for words.

"I have worked really hard to get to this point and seeing everyone's comments back that up is lovely to see.

"When it comes to the salon itself, I think everyone is comfortable in here and everyone looks forward to coming in so I could not ask for anything else.

"We are not just a salon, we do portrait photos for people, we do christmas competitions and we are big into hair, makeup, and photography - there is a reason why we call it a design house."
