THERE will be an increased police presence ahead of the Euros Final.
At 8pm today, Sunday, July 14, England plays Spain in the Euros Final.
As many people will be going to pubs and bars to enjoy the game, Cumbria Police will be increasing their presence across towns in the county.
Superintendent Sarah Jones said “We want everyone to enjoy the hopefully history-making Euro final on Sunday.
“Throughout the tournament, we have had plans in place to ensure everyone enjoys the matches. Our communities can expect to see an increased police presence with officers on patrol and working with licences."
The police are reinforcing their message of avoiding violence and staying safe, which they have urged the public to do throughout the tournament.
People are also urged not to get behind the wheel if they have been drinking alcohol.
Superintendent Jones continued: "Football is an emotive sport, however, there is simply no excuse for violence or disorder, and we want people to treat each other with respect. And most of all enjoy the game together.
“If you are enjoying a drink whilst watching the tournament please do so responsibly. Know your limits and do not in any circumstances consider driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.”
