Today, Cumberland Council's highways team reopened the Cocker Bridge in Cockermouth to two-way traffic.
Following a structural assessment, a new safeguard is in place to protect the bridge from the partially collapsed Old Courthouse building.
An alternative screening protection is in use alongside the removal of scaffolding on the bridge.
The reopening of the bride has coincided with the start of Cockermouth's Charities Week, beginning Monday, July 15.
This event, organised by the Cockermouth & District Chamber of Trade, involves diverse fundraising efforts by businesses such as games and prize draws.
There is also set to be a free children's treasure hunt and an 'Eat in To Help Out' initiative to inspire residents to cook for friends in return for donations.
