Police officers have again reminded people not to park on double yellow lines during a patrol in Cumbria yesterday (July 12).

Cumbria police said that PC 2857 Mackintosh had a ‘busy shift’ which saw them working with parking enforcement officers outside Monkwray Primary School between Ginn to Kells Road and Monkwray Brow.

There were several motorists parked on double yellow lines which were ‘more than happy’ to move on after ‘some friendly words of advice’.

Police said no tickets were issued ‘on this occasion’, and extra cones were given to the school for their use.

Then, Mackintosh, with the help of PC 2241 Hinde, attended the B354 at the point where it enters St Bees after ‘various complaints of speeding’ at the points where the speed limit drops from 60mph to 30mph.

Police said the speed gun was used but they didn’t give anyone a ticket, just reminders of the 30mph speed limit.

“Please be mindful of where you park your vehicles and the speed limit.

“These are set for everyone's safety and need to be followed.

“Police would rather do preventative work than attend any road traffic collision emergency due to a child being hit or a motorist crashing for not abiding by the speed limit.

“If these issues persist or you need to contact your local neighbourhood policing team, please dial 101/999 or fill out the online contact form on our website.”
