A ‘simple slip’ while descending a fell resulted in an audible pop in a walker’s ankle, mountain rescuers said.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) said they were called out at 2.22pm yesterday (July 13) to Hall’s Fell, Blencathra, after the walker could not continue.
As KMRT were low on numbers, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team (PMRT) were asked to assist.
A KMRT spokesperson said: “Pain relief was provided, the ankle splinted, and the casualty then stretchered down to the road.
“The woman was taken by car to hospital for further checks and treatment.”
They thanked PMRT for support on the stretcher carry.
The callout involved 12 KMRT and five PMRT members and lasted three hours and six minutes.
