A Carlisle primary school has said that it is 'delighted' after its students performed 'Alice the Musical'

Year five and year six children at Great Orton Primary School put on the show on Friday, July 12 at Great Orton Village Hall.

To bring 'Alice the Musical' to life the students rehearsed meticulously for 12 weeks and also raised £460 for costumes and props by completing challenges such as 'Off with their head' where they were doused in water.

She said: "I was delighted with their performance.

"Their dedication and their ability to work together as a team to produce a memorable performance that I hope they will take with them as they move onto their next chapters.

"Thanks again to all those who sponsored the water challenge and supported us in helping with the lighting and sound and thanks to those who helped in the background too.

"It was definitely a team effort."

"The performance would not have been as successful without the support of the local community," Rachael said.

"Barry at the Wellington Pub lent us lighting and Soundsystem.

"Finally, Mrs. Helen Robinson and her team from Richard Rose Academy allowed the children to come in and use the recording equipment to record their songs; this meant that the children’s voices could be heard around the whole hall.
