DRIVERS in and around Carlisle will have eight National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of less than ten minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M6, from 8pm July 14 to 7pm July 20, slight delays (under ten minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 41 to 43, Lane three closures for multiple cyclic activities in centre reserve and asset inspections.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A69, from 7pm July 15 to 6am July 16, slight delays (under ten minutes): A69 eastbound, Gilsland junction, traffic signals to carry out SU works.

• A69, from 7pm July 15 to 6am July 16, slight delays (under ten minutes): A69 westbound, Powmaughan bridge, Aglionby - traffic signals to carry out structural maintenance work.

• A69, from 7pm July 16 to 6am July 21, slight delays (under ten minutes): A69 westbound, Temon Bridge, traffic signals for structure maintenance.

• A69, from 7pm July 17 to 6am July 18, slight delays (under ten minutes): A69 westbound, Greenholme Bends, Greenholme - traffic signals to carry out highway and structure maintenance.

• A69, from 7pm July 18 to 6am July 19, slight delays (under ten minutes): A69 westbound, Low Row Bridge - traffic signals to carry out Structure maintenance.

• A74(M), from 8pm July 21 to 7pm July 29, slight delays (under ten minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 43 to 45, Lane three closures for multiple cyclic activities in centre reserve and asset inspections.

• A69, from 8pm July 24 to 6am July 27, slight delays (under ten minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 43 Rbt, Lane closure with switching with lane closures on Rbt for lamp column works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
