A FLOWER business is blooming on Egremont Main Street since opening last year – with floral designs being sent all over the country.
Creations for Occasions was opened in August 2023 by Theresa Bailey, who has been described as a ‘floral magician’.
Theresa first started working with flowers when she was 23, alongside a woman who was a member of the Royal Horticultural Society and took part in exhibitions and competitions.
She previously had a workshop in Cleator Moor which she worked from.
Theresa said: “I trained for many years. I’m still learning now. I studied and qualified in floristry and business studies.
“Creations for Occasions is an online business and my flowers are sent all over the UK within 24 hours. I also have agencies in London that use me.”
Theresa said her most unusual arrangement while working in Malta was a floating pool centre piece but in the UK, it was a funeral taxi she recently created for a member of staff at Mickey’s Taxis, based in Cleator Moor.
She said: “I enjoy working with flowers. They show what the heart is feeling and speak volumes of emotions. I particularly like to do funeral work as it’s a final tribute of love and respect for the loved ones.
“You need to be able to empathise with people and transform their wishes into a floral creation.”
Theresa was recently shortlisted for the British National 100 faces of floristry and was also nominated last August in the National Retail Awards for the Best Florist in Cumbria.
Before getting into floristry, Theresa trained as a French speaking pâtissier chef where she showed her artistic side through food.
She said she appreciates all the reviews she receives from her customers and thanked ‘all the lovely locals’ for their custom and continued support.
