A 42-year-old man from Oxford remains in police custody after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer near Carlisle's bus station yesterday afternoon.
He was arrested on suspicion of assault, assault on a police officer, and a racially aggravated public order offence.
The arrest followed reports of aggressive behaviour near the bus station on Lonsdale Street at around 3.15 pm yesterday (July 16).
A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit quoting the incident number. You can also phone on 101.
