A labrador was rescued by Penrith Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) after injuring his leg on a walk in the Lake District.

On July 15, the dog's owners, unable to transport him down from Branstree's summit, contacted Cumbria Police at 2.15pm for help who relayed the message to the MRT team.

A spokesperson from Penrith MRT said: "Despite his ruff day, and some torrential rain towards the end of the extraction, he remained calm and paws-itive throughout.

"Once back at the road he was taken to a local vet to assess his injury," they said.

The rescue operation involved 14 team members over the course of four and a half hours.
