A CUMBRIAN teenager has been congratulated by her local theatre group after winning a scholarship.
Hanna Davidson, 16, has attended Razzamataz Theatre School in Carlisle since she was just three years old.
After winning the Stage scholarship in association with Razzamataz, which is open to all abilities between the ages of eight and 16, Hanna's next year of tuition will come free of charge, up to the value of £800.
She said: "I am over the moon to be the winner of the stage scholarship at Razzmatazz Carlisle this year!
"I have enjoyed taking part in lots of performances all over the country as well as visiting New York last year. Over the years I have made many great friends for life and made memories along the way too.
"I have grown up alongside the Razz staff, who feel like family to me.
"I am beyond grateful for everything Razzamataz has given me, and the opportunities winning the scholarship provides me, to take part in whatever Razz has to offer in my final year."
Hanna’s mum Louise added: "I am so proud of Hanna finally getting the confidence to enter and actually win the Razz scholarship! Attending her performances and shows over the years has been so enjoyable and it has been so lovely watching her talents grow.
"The staff at Razz Carlisle have always been so supportive and encouraging and feel like an extension of the family.
"I am looking forward to seeing Hanna thrive in her final year, working towards her hopes of having a career in the performing arts."
Over the years, Razzamataz has provided hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of tuition across the 60 schools throughout the UK.
Debbie Mitchell, principal at Razzamataz Carlisle, said: "A Razzamataz scholarship has the potential to shape students’ lives and careers significantly.
"We provide them with the resources, training, opportunities and inspirational mentors that enable them to make a lasting impact in whatever industry they choose to go on and follow."
Previous winners have gone on to be in hit West End musical theatre shows such as Hamilton and Moulin Rouge.
