Austerity and cuts are ‘locked into the Labour government’ according to the former Green party candidate for Carlisle.
Labour set out their legislative agenda in the King’s Speech on Wednesday with key policy initiatives on devolution, transport and the economy.
"Labour were elected on a promise to bring change, but where is it?” said Gavin Hawkton.
“There's a magic money tree for war abroad, yet at home, 'fiscal rules' will keep 300,000 children trapped in poverty because Labour won't scrap the two-child benefit cap"

"The King's Speech only serves to remind that austerity and cuts is locked into this Labour government.
“It means grand promises of house building will rely on private developers, resulting in houses sold at market rates, out of reach for most and crucially ignore the urgent need for new social housing. It also means the crisis in the NHS won't be fixed with more funding but through moves towards privatisation, as Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting has long made clear.
"Clever PR and spin might distract for now, but Labour's failure to bring meaningful change will only add to the mass disillusionment that we all saw at the General Election".
