A Cumbrian primary school was delighted to receive a Good rating from Ofsted following a recent inspection.
St Michael's CofE School, Dalston, was inspected by Ofsted on July 2 and 3 and earned a Good rating, an improvement on the Requires Improvement it received in its last inspection in 2020.
The school has 203 pupils aged between four and 11.
The report states: "Pupils are happy, polite, caring and friendly. They greet staff and each other with a wave and a smile. Pupils appreciate the positive relationships that they have with staff. As soon as children join the school in the early years, they benefit from a high level of care.
"Children settle in quickly and make a positive start to their education.
"Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), respond well to the high aspirations that the school has for their achievement and for their conduct.
"They achieve well. Pupils show positive behaviour during lessons and around school. They treat each other with kindness.
"Governors have worked successfully with the school to address the areas for improvement that were identified at the previous inspection. Pupils, parents and carers alike have welcomed these positive changes. Pupils now benefit from a highquality education. The school has an accurate picture of its performance."
Lorna Smith, headteacher said: "As a staff team we are delighted with the outcome of the inspection. Everyone has worked incredibly hard over the last three years to develop our EPIC curriculum (engaging, purposeful, individual and continuous) and we are thrilled that the Ofsted inspectors recognised this.
"Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do at St Michael's and Ofsted recognised them as being happy, polite, caring and friendly who respond well to the high aspirations that the school has for their achievement and their conduct. We have 'established a school where everyone is valued'.
"We would like to thank the pupils, staff, Governors and parents for the part they have played in this journey to success.
"We look forward to continually improving and giving our pupils the best education and experiences that we can."
