A woman will soon be undertaking a 50-mile fell run challenge in aid of a mountain rescue team in Cumbria.
Kath Laithwaite will start the Montane Lakeland 50 on July 27, starting in Dalemain and finishing in Coniston, to support Penrith Mountain Rescue Team.
Ms Laithwaite said she ‘landed’ in Rosgill seven years ago, at which point she was ‘converted from road running’ which caused ‘many bony problems and two realignment procedures on both legs’ to fell walking.
“I recently had my accident, thankfully nothing too serious although bones were broken and it could have been so much worse
“Although I didn’t need the rescue team it was comforting to know they were only a phone call away, so on the back of this and having worked alongside fab people who volunteer their time to this amazing service, listened to the stories of their relentless dedication and regularly bump into them whilst out on the fells, it seems only right to do my bit.”
