A 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital after a crash in Scotby last night (July 19). 

The incident involving a car and the girl, who was a pedestrian, occurred near the Royal Oak pub at around 7.35pm.

The child was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary after suffering a suspected leg injury, said police.

The driver of the car, a black Volkswagen Tiguan, was uninjured.

As a result of the incident, the centre of the village was temporarily closed to traffic.
