A stunning goal from Josh Galloway saw Workington Reds earn back-to-back draws against Football League opposition at Borough Park.

Summer signing Galloway, the former Carlisle United, Leeds United and Annan Athletic man, put Reds ahead against Morecambe.

The visitors soon fought back but Reds emerged with a highly creditable 1-1 draw, which came a week after they held Carlisle 0-0.

Galloway's goal was the highlight of an encouraging Reds display.

The 22-year-old scored 11 minutes from time with an unstoppable 25-yard shot after a Dav Symington set-piece had been cleared.

Morecambe, with their assistant manager Danny Grainger back at Workington, hit back two minutes later when Jamie Stott scored.

Mark Fell's hosts, though, could reflect on a strong showing overall as they otherwise kept Derek Adams' League Two visitors at bay and gave them some problems at the other end.

Manager Fell, speaking in a club interview, said he was pleased with what he saw from his side.

"I thought we played really well. It was another progressive performance," he said.

"I thought we were better than we were against Carlisle, especially with the ball.

"We kept it better, opened channels up better than we did against Carlisle."

On Galloway, Fell said: "He's been one of the brightest sparks of pre-season. He's such a bundle of energy.

"What I like about Josh is he can take on information and replicate it.

"He puts himself in great positions because he's front-footed and aggressive. I enjoy watching him play.

"He's clever. For a young boy he knows his way around certain situations.

"The goal was spectacular."

Fell, meanwhile, confirmed that Workington are taking a look at former Blackpool and Holker Old Boys wide man Tom Stephenson.

He is also continuing to assess other trialists whilst also aiming to bolster his squad with loan players - with Fell saying there is "an agreement in principle" with Carlisle United to bring in "a couple" of their young players, the Reds boss suggesting those moves are set to be secured this week.

An agreement with a National League club for a loanee is also on the cards, Fell added.
