Carlisle man returned to jail over child abuse and bestiality images

A disgraced former Cumbria Police worker has admitted viewing indecent child images and extreme pornography – including a chicken being sexually abused. 

Carlisle man David Robinson, 56, pleaded guilty to six offences when he appeared before the city’s Rickergate court, including two extreme pornography allegations that related to his behaviour over Christmas 2022.

Video footage shows off-road biker speed across pavement in Workington

Shocking footage has shown an off-road biker speeding across a pavement on one wheel after seeing police.

Ellis Murray, 23, was given a six-month driving ban at Workington Magistrates’ Court last week after he pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.

A motorist whose car was stopped on the M6 near Southwaite was transporting an eight-kilo consignment of amphetamine, worth an estimated £80,000.

Unpaid work handed to nursing academic whose 'out of control' dog bit a family friend

A Carlisle academic whose videos are a huge hit on YouTube has been ordered to do unpaid work in the community after his '"out of control" dog injured a friend.

John Campbell, 67, whose health education videos on YouTube have more than three million subscribers, was sentenced at the city’s magistrates’ court for owning a dog which caused injury while it was dangerously out of control.

Man's noise campaign left neighbour feeling 'suicidal'

A North Cumbrian man subjected his neighbours to months of loud radio noise because they were granted planning permission for an extension.

The devastating impact of the noise nuisance deliberately inflicted on the couple by 56-year-old John Johnstone was outlined at Carlisle’s Rickergate court, with the male victim saying his wife was left feeling suicidal.

Carlisle woman was 'exploited' by Liverpool drugs criminals

A drugs gang from Liverpool took over a Carlisle woman’s home for an entire year as they set up a county lines dealing operation.

Such was the control exercised by the drugs criminal who moved into 53-year-old Sharon Patricia Beattie's Carlisle home that she had to sleep on her settee while he used her bed.

Terrifying knife attack left Carlisle dad with 7cm deep wound in his leg

A Carlisle dad was repeatedly stabbed by a man he had never met during a terrifying and unprovoked attack outside his family home.

Graeme Armstrong, 35, subjected his victim to what a judge described as an "explosion of anger," stabbing him three times in the leg.

Man sentenced for abusing girl when he was a teenager

A man in his mid-30s has been sentenced for sexually abusing a primary school aged girl when he was a teenager.

Ryan Robinson, 35, had pleaded not guilty to repeatedly abusing the girl over a two-year period, beginning when he was aged 14. After a trial, the jury convicted him of five offences.
