A Carlisle shopping centre is set to shortlist the finalists in its £1,000 community fund.
The Lanes Shopping Centre announced the 'The Lanes Community Fund', which will give local community groups, schools, and charities the chance to win £1,000, in April.
The fund aims to 'help local good causes achieve their goals, make a difference, and put something back into the local community', according to the popular shopping centre.
Applications for the community fund, which was launched with no specific entry criteria, closed on Sunday, June 30, with the city centre shopping centre now reviewing applications before announcing its shortlist in August.
Following the closure of the initial application window and prior to the application review window, The Lanes' centre manager Susan Young expressed her delight at the number of responses to the fund.
She said: "We are thrilled with both the number and quality of the applications that were submitted by a wide range of groups and individuals and now have the difficult job of shortlisting those which will be put forward to the public vote."
