A CARLISLE man has been brought to court accused of aggravated burglary, threatening another male with a knife and stealing his vehicle.

Callum Kerr, 28, faces a total of six charges following alleged incidents which are said to have occurred in the Wetheral area on Saturday.

One alleges aggravated burglary and that Kerr entered a home in the village as a trespasser, stole a Mercedes vehicle and also house keys; and at the time had a kitchen knife in his possession.

Other charges allege that he threatened a man with the 12-inch knife, illegally possessed a blade, that he stole the man’s Mercedes, drive it whilst disqualified and further that he had no insurance.

A seventh charge alleges that Kerr also failed to provide a sample for a class A drug test.

Carlisle magistrates dealt with the case in his absence at the city’s Rickergate court this morning (mon) after Kerr initially appeared in the dock but then left. No pleas were formally entered.

The case was committed to Carlisle Crown Court where Kerr, who has a prison address, is due to appear in front of a judge on 19th August.

In the meantime he has formally been remanded in custody.

*Kerr faces four additional charges brought following alleges incidents on Thursday of last week (18th July).

One alleges the dangerous driving of a different Mercedes vehicle, on a number of different roads starting at Mayfield Avenue and ending at Warwick Road. He is further charged with failing to stop for a police constable in uniform, no insurance and driving whilst disqualified.

He is due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court in respect of those matters on Thursday July 25.
