People can learn more about a major investment in Workington at a public drop-in event.

The scheme, known as the Workington Gateway, will see the transformation of roads and pedestrian routes within the town.

The public engagement event is set to take place at Workington open-air market on Wednesday, August 7.

This project, part of £30 million regeneration schemes, includes the key junction at Ramsay Brow and Bridge Street.

The widening of Hall Brow and improvements to pedestrian and cycle routes in and around Hall Park is also planned, alongside the transformation of the West House pottery and walled garden.

Leader of Cumberland Council, Cllr Mark Fryer, said: "The Workington Gateway scheme is really gathering pace and will open up some key economic areas of the town.

“It is an interesting time for Workington and I hope this event will give you the chance to find out more and see how your town is developing.”

The initiative is a result of government funding and is now being carried out by Cumberland Council.

Everyone is welcome to attend the drop-in event, which will take place at the open-air market, in and around the Washington Square shopping centre between 10am and 3.30pm.
