A pop-up art gallery springs to life today in Carlisle's Victorian Market Hall for the next four weeks.
Part of the Historic Quarter Arts Festival, the event offers local artists a chance to display their portfolio as well as an abundance of free multi-generational activities for all to enjoy throughout its duration.
The theme of this year's festival is celebrating Carlisle's Living History, with artists being showcased throughout the city's historic quarter until August 18.
From a unit inside the Market Hall, Michelle Russell of The Activity Bus with market patron Heather Elizabeth Barker will cut the ribbon for The Creative Corridor for Celebrating the Stories of Carlisle today at 2pm (July 23).
“The idea is to celebrate this fantastic Victorian building," Michelle said.
"It’s linked to the Historic Quarter Arts Festival with this year's theme of Carlisle’s Living History.
"Carlisle’s Living History for me is the buildings and the people, and here at the market, it’s the people that make the market.
"To have the opportunity to support the market in this way and the festival is just wonderful," she said.
