A summer of fun is set to take place at the Cumbria's Museum of Military Life in Carlisle.

The museum will be hosting family-friendly workshops every Wednesday until the end of August, involving numerous crafty and imaginative activities for kids.

According to Rachel Brodie, the museum's learning and events assistant, visitors can drop in and join in the crafty fun all day, from 11am to 3pm.

The workshops will take place upstairs in the museum where it is warm and dry.

Under the shelter of the museum, participants can escape the unpredictable British weather while creating a handmade holiday souvenir.

Each week's workshop will focus on a different craft, with activities such as handmade book making (July 24), paracord bracelets and keychains (July 31), paper plate lions and dragon masks (August 7), bridge and glider building (August 14), and general arts and crafts sessions (August 21 and 28).

Ms Brodie mentioned that these workshops are not only fun but also educational, as each craft is linked to an object, theme, or story in the museum.

The works created in these workshops may also be shared on the museum's social media platforms, adding a sense of excitement among the young creators.

While the children are busy crafting, parents, carers, and grandparents can enjoy a hot drink at the museum’s café.

The museum caters for all family needs, including baby changing facilities and a welcoming environment for breastfeeding mothers.

Admission to the workshops is inclusive with the museum's entry ticket and all craft materials are provided, allowing families to pop in and out of the activity as they navigate the museum.
