A RELATIVELY new baby group is helping support new parents and foster community spirit in Carlisle.
Launched in February 2024, Tiny Tootsies Baby Play & Sensory Group Carlisle's meets at Belah Community Centre encourages babies (0-13 months) to engage in varied sensory play activities structured to enhance their mental and physical growth.
Sarah Goddard, who started the group during maternity leave, said: "After having my baby, I realised there was a lack of community groups for babies and mums in the north of Carlisle.
"I feel it has really brought the local community together and lots of mums have made friends out of this.
"I’ve had parents say it’s really helped them find support and friends throughout their new journey of being a parent," she said.
She also mentioned how regular attendees stated that the group has significantly boosted their mental health.
A typical Tiny Tootsies session commences with a 15-minute collective activity followed by a 30-minute exploration of the room boasting multiple sensory stations.
Each session is marked by its individual theme that promises a different experience to those attending, ranging from jungle themes to emulating seasons.
This growth has also enabled the group to collaborate with other local businesses.
At special events, Tiny Tootsies has teamed up with baby yoga and massage group, Baby Buntin, and local photographer Red N Dead Photography, who captures precious moments of children.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to book ahead of attending.
