Primary schools in West Cumbria have contributed to an impressive boost for Hospice at Home West Cumbria through Mini Colour Runs.

Eight schools participated in the fundraising events, which raised over £21,000 and were held between May and July, painting their school fields in vibrant colours.

The participant schools were Dearham Primary School, Dean C of E Primary School, St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School, Orgill Primary School, Jericho Primary School, Westfield Nursery and Primary School, St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, and Frizington Community Primary School.

Their efforts aid the hospice charity in providing palliative and end-of-life care to West Cumbria residents.

Holly Harkness, community fundraising co-ordinator for Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said: "We are now in our ninth year of hosting Mini Colour Runs at local schools, and each year seems to get bigger and better!

"We want to say a big thank you to all the staff, parents, volunteers and especially the pupils for supporting our charity through these fun events."

AVS Cumbria Metals was acknowledged for sponsoring the Dean C of E Primary School's Mini Colour Run.

Orgill Primary School has shown firm support for the event, participating for the ninth year running.

Orgill’s head teacher, Holly Collins, said: "Being showered in paint during our Mini Colour Run is one of Orgill’s favourite times of the year.

"We hosted our first Mini Colour Run in 2016 and each event has gone from strength to strength year after year.

"Hospice at Home West Cumbria have supported many families within our school community and to be able to support their efforts is a pleasure."
