There are mixed feelings about ongoing redevelopment works in Carlisle city centre among residents as they creep closer to completion.
Cumberland Council has shared update photos of the ongoing improvements on Devonshire Street saying "we're at the last hurdle."
The works, which started in February, have included repaving the street and road, adding in benches, planting trees and creating planters, putting in new lighting, and laying crossing and tactile paving.
Julie Minns, MP for Carlisle, said: "It is fantastic news that the Devonshire Street works are in their final stage, and I cannot wait to enjoy the beautiful new surroundings, before taking a seat to soak up the city.
"The roadworks taking place in and around Carlisle at the moment are causing issues for some businesses and visitors, and I understand their frustrations. I can only encourage residents to keep using these businesses during the closure, and thank traders for their patience.
"I hope that the long-term benefits will eventually make up for the hardship of the past few months."
It has also been received well by residents who have expressed how pleased they are with the improvement, hoping it will be a step in the right direction to enhancing the city.
Sandra Phelan said: "I think it makes the street look modern and pleasant with the planting of trees, benches looks perfect for people to sit have a coffee and chat.
Diane Walker said: "It’s looking lovely. One step forward to enhance and improve our city centre."
Jonathan Hammond said: "A great improvement, making the street a real asset to the city.
"However, some people have also expressed concern that the improvements won't last long and might be vandalised.

Some people have expressed concern over whether the area will be hit with vandalism despite the money that has been spent on it.
Others have also questioned what effect that the new street set-up will have on traffic as well as whether the benches will actually get used.
The pedestrianised area of Devonshire Street has been increased leaving only one lane instead of two.
Andrew Johnstone said: "Looks great seems money reasonably well spent but how long until kids kick over the trees or the plantings are covered with KFC bags and discarded vapes."
Jackie Scott said: "Why would you want to sit there and relax when there are still buses going through."
Cumberland Council is set to host a free street party on Devonshire Street on August 3 to celebrate the completion and reopening of the street.
There will be live music and entertainment between 1pm-6pm.
Cumberland Council wrote on Facebook: "A huge thank you for your support and patience during these works.
"We apologise for any inconvenience and disruption caused."
